An Earthy Custom; AF1.

Sneaker customisation.

Something I never bothered to invest my time into, as it became very mainstream and cliche back when it surface. Seeing people cut up Goyard and LV bags and sticking the fabric material onto shoes like Vans Old Skools, Air Force 1’s, so it was all a bit meh.

Regardless of this, after listening to a lot of Gary Vee recently and watching a ton of Vick Almighty and one of dunksrnice’s video, I felt it was time for me to give customising a go.

I’ve been using photoshop to put colour onto existing Nike silhouettes, like Dunks, Air Force 1’s, Air Max 1’s. A lot. I figured it would make sense to just buy a pair of AF1’s for £60 and paint them.

I already had a colourway sketched out in Photoshop.

Olive and Natural.

Not sure why I gravitated towards these colours, but they work well. When I the design came to life on my computer screen, it screamed out “CO.JP”. CO.JP for anyone who doesn’t know, stands for Concepts of Japan, which was incorporated on dunks back in 2001 when dunks weren’t part of Nike SB line just yet.

So I grabbed all white forces, acetone, cotton buds, angelus leather acrylic paint, paint brushes, a heat gun and clear coat spray paint. My first custom came to life and I was very happy with it.

I hope you enjoy the shoes, as much as I did making them!
